Terroir Al Límit partners with Wikiwine in China
Cult Priorat estate Terroir Al Límit has recently signed with Shenzhen-based importer and distributor Wikiwine for building distribution in China. With their expertise selling direct to Chinese consumers via digital platforms including an active presence on WeChat, partnering with Wikiwine will give Terroir Al Límit the opportunity to reach some of China’s most discerning wine consumers.
“Terroir Al Límit is a project driven by passion,” says founder Dominik Huber, “which is why it has been imperative we find like-minded partners who not only understand this fundamental element of the brand but also share it. We are incredibly excited therefore to be partnering with Wikiwine for the sales and distribution of Terroir Al Límit in China. Wikiwine is a highly dynamic enterprise, whose team is not only passionate about bringing premium quality wines to Chinese consumers, but also experts in their field. We look forward immensely to building Terroir Al Límit with them in China.”
Terroir Al Límit came into being in 2001 when German food fanatic and entrepreneur Dominik Huber and highly-regarded South African winemaker Eben Sadie met harvesting at Mas Martinet. With the help of the Pérez family, they found a plot of old vine Carignan and Garnacha and leased a little corner in the cellar of Cims de Porrera where they vinified their first vintage of Dits del Terra.
Now run exclusively by Dominik Huber, Terroir Al Límit, as the name suggests, is a unique project always searching for the extreme ‘limits’ of what Priorat terroir has to offer.
Unique vineyards, farmed biodynamically, produce grapes of the highest quality which are then treated with the upmost care. Rather than heavy extraction, as can be common among the wines of Pirorat, these wines are taken through a process of infusion rather than extraction. The aim is create elegance rather than power, moving away from practices such as de-stemming to whole cluster fermentations, abandoning extraction techniques such as pigeage and remontage, and replacing small oak barrels with large foudres and cement tanks.
As well as using Burgundian techniques the Burgundy model of classification with Grand Crus (Les Manyes and Les Tosses), Premier Crus (Arbossar, Pedra de Guix and Dits del Terra), Village wines (Torroja and Terra de Cuques) and Regional wines (Terroir Historic red and white), where grapes are sourced from trusted growers throughout Priorat’s nine historic villages, was aptly borrowed. These remarkable terroir-driven wines truly are Priorat’s answer to Burgundy.
The absolute drinkability of Terroir Al Limit wines is at the forefront of Dominik’s efforts along with their ability to pair brilliantly with food making them perfect for China’s growing number of wine drinkers looking for these qualities.
The extremely limited quantity of Les Manyes, recently awarded 100 points by the Wine Advocate for the 2016 vintage, and Les Tosses with 98 points for the same vintage, naturally positions these icon wines amongst collectors and wine lovers looking for something truly exceptional.
"We are incredible excited to be partnering with Terroir Al Limit in China", says Tony Liu, Founder of Wikiwine. "We are always looking for wines that have a real point of difference and can offer something totally unique and exciting to our customers who are real wine lovers. Terroir Al Limit, as Priorat's answer to Burgundy, does just that. These wines, from terroirs at the extreme limits of viticulture in Priorat, epitomize the true elegance this region can produce."
