Adelaide Hills Distillery lands in Singapore with The First Pour
Exceptional small-batch spirits producer Adelaide Hills Distillery (AHD) has recently joined forces with The First Pour to begin their distribution in Singapore. Expanding their innovative portfolio, The First Pour has chosen Adelaide Hills Distillery’s internationally acclaimed spirits to become a one-stop-shop for classic Australian cocktails with an award-winning range of gins, vermouths and a Bitter Orange aperitif reminiscent of the orange bitters of Italy.
Partnering with The First Pour, Adelaide Hills Distillery will get the opportunity to reach some of Singapore’s most adventurous spirits and cocktails drinkers, searching for new go-to drinks, crafted for better, and with a signature Australian twist. A tribute to Australian produce and with an environmentally conscious ethos, AHD will be targeted primarily to like-minded specialist retailers, cocktail bars and restaurants capturing the imaginations of G&T and Negroni lovers alike.

Adelaide Hills Distillery was founded in 2014 by Sacha La Forgia, a local winemaker who travelled the world for over 6 years working 13 back to back vintages and exploring the world of distilling. Handcrafting a copper pot still from the ground up, Sacha is passionate about crafting spirits from Australian produce and values quality above all else. His flagship 78 Degrees Gin, a London Dry style sourced using many native Australian ingredients, quickly earned Sacha a reputation for producing exceptional small batch spirits winning Best International Gin at the ADI Awards in 2017.
After a successful first year, Sacha teamed up with Steve Dorman and Toby Kline of The Hills Cider Company. Backed by an independent, like-minded local company, the range continues to grow, driven by quality, Australian ingredients, and always with an Australian twist.
The starting line-up for The First Pour comprises three gins, three vermouths, and the Bitter Orange:
· The gins are produced in small batches, using pure Adelaide Hills water, a unique set of Australian botanicals, grape spirits both for smoothness and to give a new life to winemaking waste. The stills are never heated above 78.1°, and vapour is distilled using a column and basket still designed by Sacha specifically for gin.
For the Vermouths, AHD takes their inspiration using only the highest quality produce. For their Rosso Vermouth, AHD’s preference is for old vine Grenache that emanates from the depths of McLaren Vale, whereas for the Dry they chose a McLaren Vale Chenin Blanc. The Rosé is based off a blend of Chenin Blanc, Grenache and Shiraz. To each Vermouth is added a generous handful of their own mix of imported traditional blend of 36 Torino roots, herbs and spices, and their set of unique Australian botanicals.
· The Bitter Orange is inspired by the classic aperitifs of Italy. This orange aperitif is an Australian expression marrying traditional European bittering herbs with predominantly Australian ingredients at its core. The nose is herbal, floral and bursting with bright Riverland orange. The palate is deliciously bitter, fresh and citrus driven.
With the above portfolio, Adelaide Hills Distillery also decided to produce an Estate Negroni Pack, perfect for gifting opportunities, that combines a 200ml bottle each of the 78 Degrees Gin, the Rosso Vermouth and the Bitter Orange.
The commitment to quality and unique flavour profile across the whole range has not gone unnoticed, as earlier this year Sacha became the first Australian distiller to be awarded the title of Distiller of the Year at the Icons of Gin Awards which took place in London at the end of February 2020. The Icon of Gin Awards is one of the world’s most prestigious gin awards, given based on a distiller’s full range of spirits rather than individual products.
