Monaco’s first and only distillery, La Distillerie de Monaco, producers of premium liqueurs ‘L’Orangerie’ and ‘Carruba’, as well as spirits including their award-winning ‘Gin aux Agrumes’, has partnered with Nimbility to build their markets across APAC.

With a strong initial focus on Mainland China, South Korea and Japan, Nimbility will be developing the route to market for L’Orangerie, Gin aux Agrumes and Carruba, creating the strategy for driving consumer awareness and demand across APAC.

I am delighted to partner with Ian, Polly, Manuel and all the team to bring an authentic taste of the Principality of Monaco to Asia Pacific,” says owner of La Distillerie de Monaco Philip Culazzo. “Our hand-crafted spirits and liqueurs will bring sunshine and a fantastic flavor profile to premium establishments across the region. Using locally grown citrus, as well as herbs, flowers and fruits, we put our heart into creating a true taste of this magical corner of the world. All of our raw materials grow naturally, with no pesticides. No artificial ingredients are used in any of our spirits. We work all of our ingredients by hand – a true, and sustainable luxury. We are confident that Nimbilty’s longstanding experience in APAC will help us reach great partners whom we are lucky to count as clients in Europe including Michelin starred chefs, top bartenders and mixologists, experienced sommeliers, independent retailers and grand hotels across the region.”

La Distillerie de Monaco was founded in 2017 as the first and only distillery in Monte Carlo. In days past this iconic Principality was an agricultural land. Long before tourism, yachts and the Grand Prix, citrus production was a mainstay of the local economy and famous for its bounty of fine Mediterranean fruits. These sunshine packed citrus fruits were traded for rum with sailors on merchant ships looking to stave off scurvy on long trips to the Americas. These boats were docked in the shelter of Monaco’s famous Port Hercule - the harbour which local legend dictates was created by the mighty Hercules.

Today, 600 bitter orange trees line the streets of the Principality. Once a year, these sun-kissed citrus fruits are hand-picked and brought to the distillery, where their zest is infused with the finest alcohol to create the authentic taste of L’Orangerie. Truly unique in every aspect, La Distillerie de Monaco offers an authentic taste of the iconic Principality with their handmade collection of liqueurs, spirits and eaux de vie.

Using artisanal methods and selecting only the finest local raw materials, they are able to produce exclusive liqueurs and spirits truly inspired by the colours, aromas and flavours of Monaco. With each sip you will be transported to the azure shores of the Mediterranean, where waves gently lap at your feet and time moves slower on balmy summer evenings.

The harvest of the bitter orange crop takes place in Monaco between January and February each year. La Distillerie de Monaco waits patiently for the fruit to mature and ripen to its optimum state before gathering and starting the transformation to a fragrant, zesty and bursting with flavour liqueur.

Their secret is simple; they use the best hand-picked fruit available, which is washed and peeled with great care. The zest of the fruit is left in infusion to gently macerate and extract all of the essential oils and fragrance from the oranges. During this procedure, the liqueur develops its unique citrus flavour, the signature mark of L’Orangerie. Once the magic has happened, the liqueur goes through low-temperature filtration to remove any excess oils and is finally ready to be bottled and enjoyed.

L’Orangerie is excellent when enjoyed chilled on its own, or in a cocktail. Experience the unique taste of the Monaco Spritz, the signature drink of the Principality, or indulge yourself with one of the cocktails designed by the best mixologists of Monaco.

Carruba is a second liqueur produced by L’Orangerie using the fruits of the national tree of Monaco, the carob. A digestif that is luxurious and unique, full of rich chocolate, coffee and caramel flavours. Carruba can be enjoyed on its own or as a delicious cocktail ingredient.

A third product, Gin aux Agrumes, is a citrus gin that unites juniper berries with  wonderfully fragrant sweet and bitter oranges, lemons, limes and grapefruit, as well as bergamot, citron and lemon thyme to convey a scintillating bouquet on the palate. Perfect for a Mediterranean-inspired summer evening G&T!
