MAISON MIRABEAU SCOOPS HIGHLY-COVETED DIAMOND TROPHY AT JAPAN’S 2023 SAKURA AWARDS
Mirabeau’s Classic Rosé 2021, the UK’s No. 1 Top Selling Rosé, received outstanding recognition at this year’s Sakura Awards in Japan by scooping a highly-coveted Diamond Trophy. Winning firstly a Double Gold medal, Mirabeau Classic Rosé was re-tasted as part of a small group of Double Gold winners and singled out as winner of the highest level of award - a Diamond Trophy. Of a total of 4,222 entries, only 58 wines received this level of excellence with Mirabeau Classic the only French Rosé to achieve such a high status.
Launching in Japan with top importer Arcane in 2022, Maison Mirabeau is asserting its position as one of the top Rosé brands in the market, backed by strong third party endorsement in the form of these recent Sakura Awards where Mirabeau wines also won Silver and Gold medals alongside the Diamond Trophy. Mirabeau La Folie Sparkling NV was the only Provence sparkling Rosé to achieve a Gold medal, while Mirabeau X Rosé 2021 was awarded a Silver medal, another strong performance considering the high number of entries to the competition.
Launched in 2014, the Sakura Awards goal is “to select wines that pair well with Japan's food culture, increase the wine consumption in the Japanese market, and expand opportunities for women working in the wine industry”, explains Yumi Tanabe, the President of Japan’s Sakura Awards. Tasted exclusively by Japanese women, the awards give a trustworthy opinion on wines that will best suit the tastes of Japanese consumers.
An awards ceremony will be organised on Wednesday 19th April 2023 at the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo to introduce the recipients of awards and their wines to wine professionals (importers, distributors and retailers, hotels and restaurants, sommeliers and journalists) before they reach end consumers in their favourite restaurants and shops in Japan.

Classic is where the Mirabeau story began back in 2010, the first wine to be launched by the estate. It is a classical expression of an aromatic Côtes de Provence, pale pink in colour and full of lush red fruits.
