Wines of Hungary Celebrates Furmint February with Masterclass in Seoul
This February will see the celebration of Wines of Hungary annual activation ‘Furmint February’ for the first time in Seoul.
An exclusive Furmint Masterclass on February 18, hosted by Wines of Hungary’s Editor-in-Chief and wine and gastronomy expert Péter Blazsovszky, and Nimbility Head of Korea Sarah Soo-Kyung, will highlight a specially curated selection of nine Furmint wines. Sourced from different regions of Hungary, this masterclass will showcase the exceptional range and quality of wines that this noble, historical variety can produce, from traditional method sparklings, to dry volcanic whites through to lusciously sweet Aszú wines.
Péter Blazsovszky, former Head Sommelier of Michelin star Babel Budapest, will delve into the history, cultivation, regional variation and stylistic differences that this Furmint can deliver, making it a superb variety for consideration by sommeliers, wine lovers and collectors alike. Sarah Soo-Kyung will facilitate interpretation and discussion in Korean to ensure this is a highly interactive and informative session.
Taking place at Seoul Wine School, the event marks another milestone in the campaign calendar of Wines of Hungary’s Korea campaign. A two-year program that aims to build awareness, visibility and reputation of the exquisite wines of Hungary, as well as increasing their overall availability in the South Korea market. The campaign, now in its sixth month, will run until December 2025, and consists of a mix of events, educational activities, digital and media campaigns aimed to engage with Korea’s burgeoning trade and ever-increasing number of engaged and enthusiastic wine lovers.
