Edward Gao Joins Nimbility As Brand Ambassador

Drinks industry and hospitality expert Edward Gao joins Nimbility this November following a six year tenure at Ritz-Carlton Hotels across China. 

Based in Shanghai but working nation-wide, Edward takes up the position of China Brand Ambassador where he will be responsible for driving awareness, boosting market share and helping to drive distribution and sales for Nimbility’s select portfolio of brands.

A core element of the role will be to support Nimbility brands’ import and distribution partners via training programs, events, guest shifts, key account support and social media presence. As Mainland China gradually opens up and we look forward to the rest of this year and into 2021, Nimbility is methodically expanding our team and resources to continue to grow and expand our markets in Asia, and Edward is a key new addition to this effort.

Born and raised in Xi’an, Edward’s passion for wine and spirits began soon after he graduated from university. Starting out in 2013 as part of the pre-opening team for Ritz-Carlton Chengdu cemented his vocation in the drinks industry. In 2015 he moved to help set up Chengdu’s first independent cocktail bar, Bar Whisper, under the stewardship of China Diageo World Class Champion Nadia Liu.

Returning to the Ritz-Carlton in 2016 he took up the position of Head Bartender and Sommelier in Haikou where he took over and managed the hotel’s beverage programs including building the master wine and beverage list, cocktail menus and training programs. In 2018 he took up the position of Sommelier at the Ritz-Carlton Pudong in Shanghai before moving to Nanjing in 2019 to open both Xi’an and Nanjing hotels and take lead on both hotels’ beverage programs and guidelines, including organizing unique events and masterclasses involving industry icons such as David Rios.
